I’ve worked in product design and innovation for most of my career, delivering projects that have exceed client expectations. My approach has been shaped by over 20 years working at the forefront of technology and design.
I am currently advising clients such as RioCan REIT, Menkes, Oxford and Google in my role as Engagement Director with Intelligent Buildings.
Previously I worked with Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions as Director, Internet of Things and Business Development to build out the company’s portfolio of IoT products. In addition I also headed up Business Intelligence company-wide, bringing a leading-edge approach not only to increasing opportunities for growth, but also to increase efficiency throughout the company.
I’ve helped large clients realize their business vision and objectives through the lens of understanding deep customer needs and improved user experience. Some of the initiatives I have led include:
- Re-starting the Business Intelligence program based on a business-led position – including change management and transforming processes
- Championing an innovative trial platform to easily and cost-effectively gather comprehensive customer feedback using interactive tools;
- Developing an internal process to integrate research, intensive customer understanding and market/competitive knowledge into the enterprise product development environment.
Previously I was Director of Product Innovation at the Toronto Board of Trade. Prior to the Board of Trade I worked with LoyaltyOne [AIRMILES Reward Program] where I was responsible for corporate development and partnerships. Previously I was with Bell Canada as Associate Director of Innovation and Strategy in the Consumer Services area, part of the Consumer Segment.
Prior to my role in Innovation and Strategy, I was a member of Bell’s New Product Introduction team, developing products and services for the Enterprise market. Two key projects that I managed through to market launch included an innovative National Dial Point of Sale network for large financial institutions, and security solutions for large enterprises.
Before embarking on my MBA in Marketing and Technology, I worked as Technical Specialist at Excite Canada/@Home Canada where I lead and managed the start-up of their streaming media solution, as well as the ongoing video production and content delivery operations for Canada’s largest broadband cable network.
Forming the foundation for this work at Excite Canada was my position as Multimedia Editor for Discovery Channel Canada’s groundbreaking science and technology portal, EXN.CA. I was responsible for co-ordinating content and features from the television network, and adapting and enhancing them for use on the World Wide Web.
I have had the pleasure of contributing to the conversation about innovation, idea extraction and the latest advances in interactive development over the past number of years, writing for blogs such as PC World Canada and speaking most recently at the International Facility Managers Association, Queen’s University and the Canadian Consumer Insights and Trend Spotting Conference. I received an MBA from Queen’s University, a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto.
